The Salon Story

How it all started..

In October of 2019 I decided it was time for a change - since I started working in salons the end goal was to always own my own. I was a young girl with a dream and as my clientele increased I knew it was time. In November of 2019 I signed a lease on a place that needed a ton of work. With the help of my family, we all would meet after work each day and spend countless hours ripping down walls, painting, redoing floors, and decorating. We’d do this 7 days a week sometimes until the early hours of the morning just to repeat it all the next day. With all of that hard work, we were able to get my salon up and running in only 3 weeks. As I sat back and admired it, I still didn’t have a finalized name. After going through so many, not a single one stuck with me until my mom and I were alone in the space together one day when she looked at me and said, “your dream just became a reality. How about Dreams To Reality Hair Studio where everyone’s dream hair can become a reality”. After choosing a name, my official open date was November 29th 2019.

I was on cloud 9. My clients were so amazing and loyal. I was in my own space, working with my own products, on my own schedule. I felt unstoppable and was so excited to become the best version of myself for all that stepped through my doors. I was a 23 year old entrepreneur with a dream and a lot of hard work.

March of 2020 approached very quickly as everything I have worked so hard for came to a full stop. As the world shut down, so did my new business. I was only open for 4 months and asked myself, “how could this actually be happening?” Although the shut down was not ideal, I learned a lot about myself through the process. Dreams To Reality was meant to be here and I would do everything in my power to become stronger from this. While the unknown was scary, I would always remind myself of the small things I was grateful for.

After the 3 months were over and we were allowed to open back up, I became filled with a sense of relief . We made it. I knew now that there was only one thing that I could do and that was to make up for lost time. That’s exactly what I did.

Here we are years later with it all being only a memory. But it’s a huge part of my story and what made my salon into what it is today. Because of it I appreciate each and every day, because everyday is a gift.
