FAQs
What do I need to know about styling my extensions?
You can wash, blow-dry, straighten, curl, braid, or put in an up style just like regular hair! All my extension guests receive a recommended care guide, as well as some of my favorite home care products, but here’s a couple key points:
- Make sure you are brushing them morning, night, and before showers so they don’t get tangled and using Goldie Locks® serum on the ends at least once a day
- Use professional extension safe products! You want to protect your new investment! I use and recommend exclusively Goldie Locks®!
- Keeping heat settings for hot tools and blowdryers on low - medium
Are extensions right for me ?
Everyone is a potential candidate and it all depends on what your desired look is! You can get extensions for the volume and length you've always dreamed of, to fill in those ends that don’t seem to grow, or to just add a little thickness to what you got going on! Two things that I think are super important are that:
1. Extensions are a lifestyle, they are not a wash and go thing and can take a lot of extra work. It's a commitment that you want to make sure you're okay with! Your wash days will take a lot more work but your styles will last so much longer!
2. If you're looking for tons of length, is the top layer of your hair chin length or longer. If you're hair is shorter it doesn't mean you can’t get them, but naturally short hair can be more difficult to blend and will require a higher level of styling experience (meaning if you don’t have time to style it, these probably aren’t best for you)!
Can I swim with them and be in the sun?
When you swim and wet your extensions it can potentially decrease the life span of your hair. The salt and chemicals can dry out the hair, leading to matting issues, as well as potentially stripping the color of your extensions. I recommend pulling your hair up and avoiding getting it wet if possible.
If you plan on going in the pool, hot-tub, lake, or ocean please coat your hair in conditioner or oil. The chemicals and minerals in these bodies of water can cause discoloration to your extensions that cannot be removed or fixed!
Be cautious with the use of sunscreen on your skin and near the extensions, it can cause discoloration to the hair that can give a rose/orange hue that is difficult or unable to be removed! I do have recommendations for extension safe brands too.
Will they damage my hair?
Reality is, I'll be with you for 1-6 hours (depending on the service), and then I don’t see you for several weeks!
It’s my job to assess your hair, install properly so you have no additional tension, and make sure we aren't stressing your hair unnecessarily, but it’s your job to take care of them while you’re not in my chair.
So yes, it can, but I give you the guidance and education to ensure those things don’t happen! We want your natural hair to stay strong and grow while you have your extensions in!
This is a frequently asked question?
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
What am I going to feel with them in?
It can be a strange feeling at first, but you get used to it! Initially they may feel a little tighter but with IBE® there is no tension! It should feel like a hugging sensation!
Can I bring or buy my own hair?
Unfortunately, no. I cannot guarantee the quality or know the true source of the extensions unless they are directly purchased through me. I've invested a lot into my education and career and always want each of my guests to have the best, I can't offer that if I don't know where the hair is coming from and the quality of it.
The only circumstances that this may not apply is if you already have hand-tied extensions in. I do take on guests that need to change from their current extension stylist but this is on a case by case basis. We would have you come in for a complementary assessment to check what they currently look like, see if there are any immediate issues, and determine what is needed or best moving forward.
